Mark Thomas' Cuckooed at Northern Stage
Multi-award winner Mark Thomas tells a story of betrayal by a friend as well as hidden secrets in his one-man show Cuckooed.
The five star, critically acclaimed show is a tale of hubris, demos, planes and undercover deceit. Mark Thomas explains how Britain’s largest arms manufacturer, BAE Systems, have spied on him and five other journalists.
Cuckooed is Mark’s second theatre piece and has won him his second Scotsman Fringe First, as well as the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award.
Mark has stopped arms deals, created a manifesto, brought a winning policy to parliament and has taken the police to court over surveillance.
In this clever, funny and angry show, which is also imbued with sadness, Mark explores the use and misuse of deception, and how without trust, everything breaks down; friendship, partnership and even the relationship with the state.
