Great North Big Band Jazz Festival returns to Sunderland
For the 12th year Northern musicians will flock to Sunderland for a weekend of Big Bands and Jazz in the Great North Big Band Jazz Festival.
A total of 27 big bands will be performing at the University of Sunderland’s campus bar North Shore.
Festival Director and Judge of BBC One’s Frank Sinatra’s, Our Way. Bill Watson says: “The festival has grown and become so well-known and popular that we are scarcely able to accommodate all the bands who want to take part.
”It is a nice problem to have, and we have managed to fit them all in, just!”
The Festival is set to take place from Friday, March 6 until Sunday, March 8, with a range of senior and school bands playing alongside the likes of Paul Jones from the BBC Big Band and saxophone star Mick Donnelly.
Tickets for the festival are available on the door all weekend at £8 per ticket and under 16’s go free. The Festival opens at 8.00pm Friday, 6:30pm Saturday and 10.00am Sunday.#####
