Gaming: Bloodborne launches in the UK today
From the creators of the award-winning Demon’s Souls and its spin-off sequel Dark Souls, Bloodborne is an action-horror role-playing game set in third-person.
The game is quite Japanese arcade in terms of style, similar to the likes of The Evil Within but with a more Skyrim setting. The game takes place in the ancient medieval city of Yharnam, crawling with evil spirits. The city houses a medical remedy to cure an illness your character has, and they have taken the pilgrimage to Yharnam, where many other fellow travelling warriors have tried and failed.
As you can probably imagine, it’s a Japanese horror so expect plenty of grotesque demons and other unworldly horrors all trying to kill you, or at least make you break into a cold sweat in reality.
Early demos and pre-release reviews have credited the game with a smooth and fast-paced combat play. The game’s unique element is the attack to defend health regeneration component; where your character can regain health in short windows by retaliating with an assault against an opponent – encouraging a more offensive style of play.
The game, exclusive to PS4, is set to be released in the UK on March 24 2015.
