Mystery thriller Child 44 comes to UK cinemas this Friday
Murder mystery Child 44, based on Tom Rob Smith’s best-selling novel of the same name, is released worldwide this Friday (April 17).
Child 44 is directed by Daniel Espinosa and produced by Ridley Scott and features an all-star cast with the likes of Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), Gary Oldman (Air Force One, The Fifth Element) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
The film is set in 1953 during Stalin’s rule of the Soviet Union and focuses on MGB agent Leo Demidov (Hardy), who investigates a series of child murders despite the warnings of the state, who do not want the existence of a child murderer to be revealed. When he is demoted and exiled, Demidov enlists the help of his wife (Rapace) to help him solve the mystery.
This is Swedish director Espinosa’s second English language film, following on from Safe House, released in 2012.
Child 44 will be released in all major UK cinemas on Friday April 17.
