Gone Girl’s Rosamund Pike stars as a meticulous small-town nurse, Miranda, who falls victim to a life-altering event after she goes on a blind date with a man (Shiloh Fernandez, Evil Dead) who turns out not to be who he says he is.

Following a vicious attack in this intense psychological thriller, Miranda begins to write to her attacker in jail following his arrest, but the letters are all – you guessed it – returned to sender.

Determined to confront him, she starts to visit him regularly in jail and builds a relationship with him – against her father’s (Nick Nolte) wishes. He soon realises that she is far more resilient than he thought.

Directed by Fouad Mikati, the film’s cast also includes Camryn Manheim (The Practice) and Rumer Willis (Sorority Row)

Return to Sender hits cinemas Friday May 22.
