Christmas isn’t Christmas without a boxset. We’ve included TV, Netflix and film boxsets in this top 10.

Here are the Northern Lights contributor picks for box-sets for Christmas:

1. Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas Specials (2011-2014): Have a laugh with Mammy, Grandad and the rest of the characters as you reminisce about Christmas’ past before you watch the present Christmas special on Christmas Day.

2. Sherlock: The Abominable Bride. (Released in 2016): As the two characters step back in time to the 1890s, why not pre-order the episode which is due for release on January 11, 2016.

3. Humans: A dramatic series about robots and humans. One thing to remember – they do not mix.

4. My Mad Fat Diary: Escape with this witty series, following the life of Rae as she copes with the highs and lows of being a teenager.

5. The Wire: A US show that has gained a following in the UK. It’s set in Baltimore and takes you through politics, crime and education in the city, among much more!

6. Poldark: If you are an Aiden Turner fan then there may be no other reason why this series is your favourite. The show has a lot of lust and drama. It’s also set in Cornwall in the 18th century.

7. Call The Midwife – Series 1 – 4: What could be better than Miranda Heart as a midwife? Follow nurse midwives in Call the Midwife; a period drama set in the East End of London in the 1950s and 60’s.

8. Downton Abbey: The British period drama TV series has filmed its final series but you can catch up with the Lords and ladies of Downton with your very own box-set.

9. Jurassic Park: We’ve thrown this film series into the mix because Jurassic Park is a classic trilogy. Dinosaurs on Christmas Day – there’s something prehistoric about that!

10. Once Upon A Time (Season 4): This American fairytale brings many of your favourite characters to life – Hook, Snow White and of course Prince Charming. It’s a whirlwind adventure filled with magic, books and fairy dust.
