Preview: Speakeasy at Dance City

11th February 2016 Off By Gemma Hirst

A work in progress, Southpaw Dance Company hopes you won’t be drunk on energy that they pour into their performance of Speakeasy.

Written by Goethe, the tale of Faust has been translated into many languages and now being adapted to dance. It tells a story of how easy it is for a man to lose himself in drinking and gambling.

Speakeasy is a modern interpretation of that story, as they delve into dance styles such as the Charleston, Lindy Hop and Breakin’.

You will be impressed by the energy and stamina of their dancers, as a cast of six male dancers take you to a world of gangsters, gamblers and flaming cocktails.

Speakeasy is at Dance City on March 18, 7.30.

Tickets are priced from £7.50 and can be bought from the ticket office on 0191 261 0505, or online here.
