The new surprise follow-up to To Pimp A Butterfly is out now. Rapper Kendrick Lamar his latest work titled untitled unmastered this morning, which comprises of 8 songs that were meant to be featured in his 2015 album but ended up not being added.

This release does not come as an entire shock to fans and music enthusiasts that have been paying attention to Kendrick’s performances in several events and programs like The Grammys, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon or The Colbert Report, where several untitled songs where played passing mainly as freestyle.

untitled unmastered follows Kendrick’s new direction in his rap/hip-hop genre, ever since To Pimp A Butterfly, stepping aside from his Compton upbringing and showing his side as a rising artist, although his predominance is now more than evident.

The album features jazzy melodies and samples soul mixed with Kendrick’s lyrics that combine beautifully to compose politically charged tunes that criticise American society’s behaviour towards minorities, of which he has always been vocal about.

The album is available for streaming in Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music and Google Play. Stay tuned for the album’s more detailed review here in Northern Lights in the following days.
