The Flash: Season 2 Summary

21st March 2016 Off By Adam Bloomfield

Since the ‘Scarlet Speedster’ came streaking back onto Sky 1 last year, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and co. have had some amazing adventures and more are yet to come as the Flash has returned to our screens after his winter vacation so what happened in the first half of season 2.

Well there is a new Firestorm in town but unfortunately he doesn’t stick around long as he departs to join the Legends of Tomorrow crew but Barry and the S.T.A.R Labs crew; Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) are still around to defend Central City from the metahumans along with Iris and Joe West (Candice Patton and Jesse L. Martin).

New and old heroes come to Central City over the course of the series as Oliver Queen and co. make their annual cross over from Arrow and we see the live action debuts of Hawkman and Hawkgirl but they too leave to join the Legends clique. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) returns too but not in the way we know him.

The big bad of this season is Zoom, a demonic speedster who seeks to eliminate Barry, so he can be the only speedster in the multiverse but help arrives in the form of Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), The Flash from a parallel world.

In the show’s mythology there are numerous multiverses so Jay is the Flash from Earth-2 and metahumans from Earth-2 who work for Zoom threaten Central City.

Some of the new villains introduced alongside Zoom are Tar Pit, King Shark, Double Down, Atom Smasher, Geomancer and many more to come including some famous Flash enemies. Returning antagonists include Captain Cold, Weather Wizard and The Trickster.

The core team undergo developments as well as Barry learns new tricks with his speed and develops a romance with fellow officer Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten).

Caitlin and Jay begin a relationship and Cisco discovers he is a metahuman and adopts the codename Vibe because of his powers.

Iris and Joe discover there is another member to their family, Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale)

Now that the second season has returned we’ve been teased with more of Earth-2 and some friends who may turn out to be villains but time will tell but its glad to have The Flash back on TV and I’ll be bringing you updates for the second half of season 2.
