Kingdom Hearts 3: What We Know

Kingdom Hearts 3: What We Know

12th April 2016 Off By Adam Bloomfield

The long wait for Kingdom Hearts 3 began back in 2005, but with numerous spin offs and delays on the project, fans began to wonder if they would ever see the end of the Dark Seeker saga. Fortunately, in 2013 at E3 2013, a teaser trailer was finally released with some information on the game’s plot.

In Kingdom Hearts 3, Sora will return as the main character as he, Donald Goofy, attempts to search for something called the Key To Return Hearts while also searching for seven warriors of light. Meanwhile Riku and King Mickey will attempt to find the lost Keyblade Warriors and bring them home before Xehanort can get his hands on Kingdom Hearts itself.

The game is currently in development and has been for the past three years but new worlds have been confirmed, including The Kingdom of Corona from Tangled and San Fransokoyo from Big Hero 6. Rapunzel and Baymax have also been confirmed as Sora’s allies in the game. When Sora visits the world of Big Hero 6, it takes place after the movie with Sora and Baymax dealing with a Heartless version of the original Baymax.

Several cosmetic changes have been included, such as the games graphics are updated to match the next generation consoles and Sora has undergone changes too, including looking older with floppier hair and a new costume which allows him to be more acrobatic and use the world’s terrain to his advantage – sliding around on ice and running up walls and performing parkour.

Magic will be able to effect the environment around Sora and the main new feature is the Attraction Flow which will allow Sora to turn the tides of a battle by using rides and attractions from the Disneyland parks. So far confirmed are Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, Mad Tea Party, Big Magic Mountain and Pirate Ship.

Sora will also be able to modify his Keyblade into a variety of different weapons such as a rocket launcher, dual crossbows, a great sword and even a Pegasus pulling a chariot. This will add a new twist to the field of battle instead of relying of the run of the mill hack and slash.

Because of the long time its taking to develop Kingdom Hearts 3, the internet has been running wild with speculation – allegedly, a character from Frozen will play an important role in the battle between light and darkness. There are also rumours that Sora himself will be corrupted or he, Riku and Kairi, will suffer the same fates as Terra, Ventus and Aqua.

Sadly, with the game still in development and no official release date confirmed, all we can do is speculate and wonder how Kingdom Hearts 3 will play out.

I guess time will tell.
