Although Tim Burton’s take on Alice in Wonderland brought us a more peculiar and dark version of the classic tale – not to mention Johnny Depp dressed up as the Mad Hatter – it is one that won the hearts of movie lovers, as Burton now returns with the sequel, Through the Looking Glass.

This second installment of the series sees Alice (Mia Wasikowska) return to Wonderland, and it is clear that all is not well.

She soon finds herself in a race against the evil Lord of Time, to stop him from turning forward the clock and destroying her beloved Wonderland.

On top of this, she must also stop the wicked Queen of Hearts from returning to the throne once more.

Although Alice does encounter some new friends, her journey still sees the return of other much-loved characters including Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit and the late Alan Rickman as the Cheshire Cat.

Alice Through the Looking Glass comes out in cinemas on May 27.
