Gig Preview: The Joy Formidable at THINK TANK

3rd May 2016 Off By Katherine Shanks

Three-piece dream-pop rockers, The Joy Formidable, will play Think Tank, Riverside in Newcastle as part of their international tour which kicked off in February.

Receiving critical acclamation for past albums, the Welsh-born band have become well-known on the gig scene for bringing a powerhouse of melodic choruses, thunderous climaxes and even some distortion.

Rock god Dave Grohl has gushed about them in the past, so it isn’t hard to see why the trio are steadily becoming a permanent fixture in the music industry.

With third studio album Hitch being their most energetic yet, the Newcastle show is set to be an explosive one, and they tend to be a hit with the Geordie crowds.

They are often keen to showcase new music along with old favourites including A Heavy Abacus, Cradle and Whirring, and frontwoman Ritzy Bryan can always be relied on to get the crowd hyped up.

The Joy Formidable play at Riverside on 07/05/2016. Doors open at 7:00PM. Tickets are available now here.
