Free Fire – Preview
15th March 2017The trailer for Ben Wheatley’s new film Free Fire, released in the UK on March 31, takes place almost entirely in one room. And the film’s premise serves primarily to make you wonder how on earth this film lasts for an hour and a half.
A gang of criminals meet up in a warehouse in order to purchase weapons and, completely unsurprisingly due to the film’s title, a full-on shoot-out ensues. So far, so straightforward. However, the pedigree of the director and the cast makes you think that there’s more to this low-budget film than meets the eye.
Wheatley is on a roll, the director of one of 2013’s hidden gems in A Field in England as well as 2015’s Tom Hiddleston-starring High Rise. Additionally, the film boasts names such as Brie Larson, Armie Hammer and Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy.
