22nd August 2017 Off By Georgia Addison

We spoke to one of the newest, up and coming local bands in the North East- Columbia. Four boys who came together from South Tyneside to form an indie rock band; John, Dan, Ryan and Jamie. They came from rehearsing at a local community centre to playing indie venues such as Riverside in Newcastle.

The four boys are looking forward to some exciting gigs in the next few months, including a slot at Sunderland’s local indie music venue Independent. Previously debuting at this venue they are very excited to make a return to famous local music venue. Playing their very first gig with original songs they have high expectations for their return on September 29.

Another gig they are looking forward to is their next one at local venue in South Shields, Hedworth Hall, which is a charity gig for South Tyneside Against Bullying.

Talking with the band about how the came together and the personality of the band, frontman John said: “I wouldn’t want to share the stage with anyone else.”

Previously John had been in a few other bands but this is the one where the members all gel well and can come to an agreement on what music they want to produce on stage and hopefully, maybe one day we’ll hear off stage.

We also asked if they could give any advice to anyone wanting to start a band, Jamie said: “Don’t compare yourselves to other big bands, don’t think you’re going the wrong way.”
