Still drying off from his appearance on ITV’s Splash!, Teesside comic Patrick Monahan is embarking on a nationwide tour. Thankfully he’s not forgetting his North East roots with two dates in Newcastle and one in Washington.

The Iranian born stand-up grew up in Stokesly, and last year got his former school to perform the Harlem Shake to raise over £1,000 for Comic Relief. Patrick has been on the British comedy scene since 2001, and even performed in Germany, Luxemburg and Dubai. The Herald have called him him “The new Alan Davies” and his new tour Cake Charmer is said to be enjoyable for all ages (or 12 and above, as the venue advertises).

The winner of 2011’s‘Show Me The Funny, Pat told The British Comedy Guide that he’s based his new routine on something he read in the news: “Cake Charmer is basically hinged on this survey in the paper about what makes people happy.

“I love doing surveys: every time I see one I block out the results and try to guess what people have put” explained Patrick, “so I did this one and put cake top of the list, and other things that make me happy: hugs, CSI, and then in the show I reveal to the audience what actually is in the list. Like, what would you put? When are you happiest?”

Patrick Monahan plays Arts Centre Washington on Friday 28th February, and The Stand in Newcastle on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th of March.
