Benn, Norris, Wool, And Even Frankie Boyle – April At The Stand Newcastle
April Fools last longer than a day at the Stand, with a month long list of brilliant acts to get you chuckling.
This week they welcome funnymen Mitch Benn and Ben Norris to their stage, and the end of the month sees the return of Glenn Wool with a support act of none other than Frankie Boyle. No, really.
According to his new show, Mitch Benn is the 37th Beatle. He says, “Many have claimed to the title ‘Fifth Beatle’. They can’t all be right; some were righter than others…” Combining his lifelong love of the Fab Four with his own Scouse upbringing, and a twist of satire, Mitch shines a new light on what is definitely not just another tribute act.
The 27th April sees the triumphant return of Glenn Wool bringing ‘The Jokes I’m Most Fond of’, and also bringing along Frankie Boyle to open his show. With a 20 year comedy career in his pockets, Glenn’s show brings together the best of his 7 different Edinburgh Fringe solo shows, and two decades of television and live shows (spanning five continents!), and he invited you to join him on his comedy journey.
He might not be at the top of the comedy food chain just yet, but Ben Norris already has a list of TV and comedy credits behind him – with appearances on Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and supporting Ed Byrne on his national tour all tucked neatly under his belt. Oh, and his cousin is Martin Freeman of Hobbit fame.
