 North East Live

Young writers from across the North East have been given the chance to have their say about Sunderland’s biggest music festival. Students from the region’s secondary schools, colleges and universities have been asked to write a mock review of North East Live 2014, with the best review winning tickets to the event.

North East Live will be held at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland on June 22 and will feature acts such as Jessie J, Rizzle Kicks, The Saturdays, Jason Derulo, Union J and The Vamps, as well as many more exciting acts which are yet to be announced.

The competition was organised by promoters AEG Live and SAFC, and is open to anyone aged 11 or over who is in full time education. Three lucky winners will be chosen – one from secondary school, one from college and one from university – with each one receiving four VIP tickets to the concert.

The winner will also be given the chance to write a review of the event to feature on Sunderland AFC’s official website. The winner from secondary school will also be awarded with four additional VIP tickets for their school, and each educational establishment that submits a review will be entered in to a draw to win tickets.

SAFC Commercial Director, Gary Hutchinson, said: “The feedback we received from North East Live 2013 was fantastic and this year we wanted to give young people the chance to showcase their reviewing skills in more of a formal fashion. We’re looking forward to reading all of the entries and ultimately giving the lucky winners a chance to report like a real journalist at North East Live 2014.”

Entries can be submitted to via email to lucy.hall@safc.com, in person at Black Cat House or by post to Schools North East Live Competition, Sunderland AFC, Stadium of Light, Sunderland, SR5 1SU by Friday May 2
