Transformers 4 arrives on cinema screens as, believe it or not, the fourth instalment in the film franchise opens this summer. Michael Bay returns to direct another steal ripping action packed film in what will be the first time that Shia LeBeouf doesn’t have a starring role, instead making way for Mark Wahlberg.

Steven Spielberg receives an Execute Producer credit, as he has for all of the films in the franchise,  and the film is being billed as a direct sequel to 2011’s Dark of the Moon – set four years after the events of the franchise’s third outing.

The fourth instalment sees a mechanic and his daughter make a discovery that brings the Autobots, Decepticons and a paranoid government official crashing into their lives. The only confirmed Autobots making a return (thus far, anyway) are Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, no Decepticons have yet been confirmed.

Wahlberg will star alongside Nicola Peltz as this looks to be the first film in the franchise to feature the Dinobots.

Transformers 4 is released in cinemas across the North East on Friday June 27th
