Canadian indie pop outfit Alvvays are playing one of Newcastle’s most popular intimate venues next month, and if the reception from their debut self-titled album is anything to go by, it looks to be an exciting night.

The band, fronted by Molly Rankin, will play nine headline dates when they return to the UK in the new year. They recently toured the country supporting Real Estate where they played a date at Think Tank’s partner venue, Riverside.

One of the album’s most popular singles, Archie, Marry Me, was recently covered by Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and the song also made it to number 11 in Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Songs of 2014.

If you love mellow indie-rock with with captivating riffs and dreamy vocals, catching Alvvays at Think Tank will no doubt be the perfect way to lift those January blues.

Alvvays play Think Tank on January 23 2014. Doors 7.00. Tickets £9.00.
