Sega and developers Creative Assembly have announced that the latest game to be developed in the Total War series will be set in the Warhammer universe. Spawned from a deal between Creative Assembly and Games Workshop back in 2012, the new release was revealed in a quote by Creative Assembly’s Mike Simpson in The Art Of Total War book.

Still in the early days of development, all we currently know is the game will incorporate Games Workshop’s classic table-top fantasy battles in Total War’s traditional blend of turn based strategy and real time tactics.”We’ll be doing the Warhammer universe justice in a way that has never been attempted before,” claims Creative Assembly’s Studio Director, Tim Heaton. “We’re bringing those 25 years of experience and expertise in extremely high-scoring games to bear, delivering a Warhammer experience that video gamers will absolutely love.”

While Total War: Warhammer is still under way; the next in line of the long running strategy series is Total War: Attila, focussing on one of histories greatest commanders, Attila the Hun.

Total War: Attila is released next month for PC and is available for pre-order.
