Kill the Messenger hits UK cinemas this week
Dramatic crime thriller Kill the Messenger is based on the true story of journalist Gary Webb as he uncovers a story filled with conspiracy and cocaine smuggling.
Two-time academy award nominee Jeremy Renner, who is best known for his portrayals in The Hurt Locker and The Bourne Legacy, stars as lead character Gary. Gary is an ambitious reporter who continues to pursue a story despite being warned off by both the CIA and members of the illegal drug trade.
The film, which is directed by Michael Cuesta, is based on the book of the same name by Nick Schou, also stars Andy Garcia and Michael Sheen alongside Renner, who also produced the film.
Webb’s dangerous journey takes him from the prisons of California to the high-powered corridors in Washington D.C, and threatens not only his career but his family and his life.
Kill the Messenger comes to cinemas on March 6.
