Where else are you going to witness both Calvin Harris and Sir Tom Jones perform in the same weekend? Other than your dreams, the answer is V Festival!

This weekend, we will lose our V virginity (hooray for a festival organiser joke) at Chelmsford in Essex as presenters Jack White and Alice Winney team up and fly the flag for our Saturday schedule and get to view a series of superstar performances from the likes of Kasabian, Sam Smith, Olly Murs and Paloma Faith and even interview one or two of the utterly fantastic line-up.

Who are Alice and Jack excited to check out, and potentially have a cosy chat with? Let’s take a look.
Let’s address the elephant in the room. Or should that be massive field. None other than Sir Tom Jones will be performing this weekend. The former The Voice UK coach has had an unprecedented 40 studio albums, so the Sexbomb legend certainly wll have no shortage of songs to belt out. Just don’t mention spinning chairs or Boy George. It’s still a sore subject.

Speaking of The Voice UK, new coach Paloma Faith is heading to V Festival also, and she will be ‘Picking Up The Pieces’ left in the wake of Tom’s departure. I know I know, I bet you’re saying that “I ‘Just Can’t Rely On You’ to make a good joke.” God loves a trier, mind. Jack walked past at her at T in the Park, a moment that made him sweat buckets down to nerves. Ironically, Paloma will be headling a stage sponsored by Sure deodorant.

‘Someone New’ for Jack and Alice to see live is Irish star Hozier. The European Border Breaker 2015 Award winner for Ireland put the Emerald Ilse on the map last year with his track ‘Take Me To Church’, and here’s hoping the luck of the Irish arrives with him and rain doesn’t ruin everyone’s fun times at the festival.

The best thing to come out of Sweden since ABBA will also be at V Festival. We are of course talking about the fantastic Tove Lo. Her debut album ‘Queen of the Clouds’ is one of 2015 most underrated albums, and let’s hope her royal stance means she can cast any clouds away from the festival site! Can you tell we don’t want it to rain? Jack in particular can’t wait to watch her live for the first time. If only Adam Lambert could make a surprise appearance to perform their duet ‘Rumours’ together?!

The ultra-talented Ella Henderson will also take to the stage at V. Thankfully, she’s managed to stop going to the river to pray on a continuous basis and she’ll perform some belters from her debut album, Chapter One. We can’t wait to witness Ella’s story continue on Sunday. If she can get away from that bloomin’ river.
Someone who may be able to help Ella with that river is James Bay. We’ve heard he is good at holding them back. Jack watched James’ performance live at T in the Park and he said James’ was the best set of the entire festival. Not to mention Jack got a brief look at James warming up with Alabama Shakes in a pre-set jamming session in the Artist’s Lounge. We’re sure he’ll impress Spark again.

So, there you have a preview of what is to come this weekend at V Festival, taking place on August 21st and 22nd. Following what is sure to be a phenomenal weekend for Jack and Alice, interviews they carry out with some of the performers will be broadcast on-air, and be available for you to listen again online. A Review of the festival festivities will also hit the website next week. See you again for that? It’s a date.
