Join Alice for an Adventure in Pantoland
Alice in Wonderland will be sponsored by Hays Travel and is at the Custom House from December 1st to January 9th.
It makes perfect sense for this years pantomime to be Alice in Wonderland, since this year the Mill Dam venue in South Shields will be celebrating 150 years since it opened and Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland will also be celebrating its 150 years.
The cast list for the pantomime will be opera star Anne-Marie Owens who will play the Queen of Hearts, Steven Lee Hamilton will play the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit will be played by Luke Maddison, Steven Sullivan will play the King of Hearts & Mad March Hare, Kylie Ann Ford will play the Dormouse and Gareth Hunter & Craig Richardson will play Tweedle Dum & Tweedle Dee.
Ray Spencer will play the Duchess in the pantomime as well as co-writing the pantomime, directing the show. Afnan Iftikhar, who featured in ITV talent show Superstar will play the Knave of Hearts and Alice will be played by Natasha Haws who returns after being Little Red Riding Hood last year.
Anne-Marie Owens who is best known for Opera, will make her pantomime debut as the queen of hearts. the opera star who has performed all over the world, said: “ I came to last year’s show and went backstage to meet the cast and my sister, Jane told Roy I had always wanted to be in pantomime.
“ Ray got in contact to say that he had been thinking about Alice in Wonderland and he couldn’t get my name out of his head. I thought he was mad but i thought why not. I can’t wait to join The Custom House Pantomime.”
Natasha Haws will be playing Alice said: ”It’s so good to be back and I’m looking forward to playing this iconic role.”
Designer Paul Shriek said: “ The escape into our colourful wonderland in a journey we hope all the family would enjoy.”
Ray Spencer said: “ There’s so much to celebrate, don’t be late – get your tickets now.”
