From Glastonbury to Tynemouth, the Brit Award winning James Bay will appear at upcoming Mouth of the Tyne Festival.

The artist, who has also been nominated for a Best Artist Grammy Award, will perform at the outdoor venue of Tynemouth Priory and Castle on July 9.

North Tyneside mayor Norma Redfearn said: “We are thrilled to welcome the breakthrough artist of 2015, James Bay, to North Tyneside and the Mouth of the Tyne Festival. With more exciting announcements to come, we are sure this will be one of the most popular festivals yet.”

The event will mark the festival’s 12th incarnation, and it has previously welcomed a vast range of big name artists to North Tyneside including Paul Weller, The Script and James Morrison.

The Mouth of the Tyne is organised by North Tyneside Council and supported by Kier, Tyne Met College and Port of Tyne.

Andrew Moffat CBE, Chief Executive Officer of Port of Tyne, also said: “The Port of Tyne is proud to continue its support for the Mouth of The Tyne Festival, which gets bigger and better every year.

“Already the line-up is looking fantastic and is set to bring thousands of visitors to North Tyneside to enjoy world-class music and entertainment against the backdrop of our beautiful coastline and heritage.”

James Bay’s 2014 single, Hold Back the River, has now gone platinum and his debut album Chaos and the Calm helped the artist to win the Brit Awards Critic’s Choice prize along with three Grammy Award nominations, including Best New Artist.

Tickets for James Bay at Tynemouth Priory and Castle performance go on sale at 10am on Friday January 29 at www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
