Valentine’s Day can be a great day to give your female significant other a book to show how much you care. Northern Lights has compiled a list of top 5 books for her on Valentine’s Day.

1. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

This is perhaps one the most heartbreaking novels – of the year. It captures love and loss in a subtle way, but it’s certainly not for the faint hearted. It’s a tear jerker, but it’s a great read. If the lady in your life likes romance and drama then this is the perfect book!

2The Year of the Runaways by Sunjeev Sahota.

It’s a novel that flits between two countries – England and India. Don’t be put off by the title, as it’s a gritty tale of a family tussled together due to circumstance. It’s a thought-provoking novel, so if that’s what she’s into, then this books a must-buy.

3War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy.

The adaption on TV has finished and now your lady needs to indulge in the lives of three people living in Russia. It’s a tale of love and unfortunately one of betrayal too, but it’s a worthwhile read if she likes books that have been adapted to the screen.

4The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins.

This book is a bit different. It’s a thriller and a drama intertwined. Whilst the genre may not be different, the story is. It’s a gripping book that is difficult to put down. It was rated highly in book charts, so it’s not one to miss.

5. If This Is A Woman by Sarah Helm.

If your lady is a history buff then look no further than this book. It may put you off, but it’s a tale of Ravensbruck. It may not be a happy tale, but it’s one of poignance. It’s another different style of book, but if she likes history, then it’s a no-brainer!
