Disney’s latest feature film is set to release on the 2nd of December and it looks to be a worthy successor to Frozen.

Featuring songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, best known for his smash hit musical Hamilton, Moana stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and newcomer Auli’i Cravalho as the titular Moana.

The film follows the story of Moana, the daughter of a Polynesian chieftain as she journeys to find the demigod Maui (Johnson) and save her people. Following in the footsteps of Tangled, Frozen and Zootropolis, Moana and Maui form a bickering team-up with plenty of humour.

Notably, the cast is primarily made up of actors with Pacific Islander heritage, and the screen writers recruited experts from across the South Pacific to consult on the film’s cultural accuracy and sensitivity.

From what we’ve seen so far, Moana promises to be a tale of adventure with a backdrop of stunning Pacific scenery and a breathtaking soundtrack. Moana is set to release in the UK on December 2.
