Spider-Man: Far From Home – preview

16th January 2019 Off By Kamron Kent

At first, this film looks to be set before the events of Avengers: Infinity War,  as Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is seen wearing the Spider-Man suit he was given in Spider-Man: Homecoming and it also featured in Captain America: Civil War. However, rumours have it that the film is actually set afterwards.

If it was set after, the actions of Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Infinity War, would be a MAJOR spoiler for the upcoming movie Avengers: Endgame. But why wouldn’t Parker wear his iron spider suit? It could be a detail Marvel has made on purpose like they did for the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok.

After a brief romantic moment between Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) and Parker’s Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), Spider-Man is seen back at his old tricks of swinging through the streets of New York City. It’s clear in the trailer that the plot will take Peter on a school trip to Europe. In one scene we see him close the closet door on his spider suit, reluctant to take it, and the next it’s open and he’s shutting his suitcase.

As part of the trip, we see Peter, Michelle Jones ‘MJ’ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) all on a boat flowing through the rivers of Venice. During his time in the floating city, we see him and MJ have a bit of a romantic moment – more than likely sparking the inevitable relationship they are going to have.

This Holiday/School trip for Peter seems to be going well. That is until Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) comes in and crashes it for him. This provides more evidence that this may be before the events of Infinity War as Fury Says:

“So nice to finally meet you Spider-Man.”

To Parker’s response:

“You’re Nick Fury.”

So if this was set after Endgame, then surely they would have met before now.

After what looks like attacks by a monster taking the form of water in Venice, and whether or not this is the place where Spider-Man meets Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), London seems to be the next port of call. Although, it seems to be taking a hit from either a freak storm or another unknown entity also.

With Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) making a return with Fury, since they both turned to dust in the post-credits of Infinity War, who are these monsters? and who is Mysterio?

The main question of the full trailer, however, is where did that black Spider-Man suit come from? This isn’t another Toby Maguire Spiderman 3 moment, is it?

We guess all of our questions will be answered when Spider-Man: Far From Home hits screens, July, 5.
