EA has announced their newest Star Wars game, set to release later this year:

Jedi: Fallen Order will be a single player action adventure game set just after the events of Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. The game hopes to further expand on what happened in the galaxy between Episodes 3 and 4, following on from the animation series Star Wars Rebels and the 2016 standalone film, Rogue One.

In the aftermath of the Great Jedi Purge, you play as Padawan Cal Kestis as he goes underground to hide his Jedi powers and escape detection by the Empire. Your aim is to complete your Jedi training and avoid the Sith inquisitors that have been sent to every part of the galaxy to hunt down and eliminate the remaining Jedi.

A new stormtrooper called the Purge trooper will be helping a ‘Second Sister’ – a member of the Jedi order who fell to the dark side and now helps the Empire – to track you down.

As the main weapon of your character will be a lightsaber, the gameplay will focus heavily on melee combat; this is something EA have probably needed to try and publicly rectify as it was criticised for being too basic in both its Star Wars: Battlefront titles.

It is not an open world game but will feature some exploration and will focus on problem solving.  The game will also have no multiplayer and no DLC. Learning from its previous mistakes, EA has promised there will be no microtransactions, however ‘cosmetics’ will be available in the game.

Fallen order is set to release in November 2019, a month before the final film in the Skywalker saga, The Rise of Skywalker.  It will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC
