Alternative-rock band Boy Jumps Ship is releasing their debut album on 22 April. The band has four EPs up on iTunes and their debut album Wake Up is now available to pre-order.

The four-piece band from Newcastle will be hosting an album launch gig in their home turf on Saturday April 23 at the o2 Academy. The album launch gig will start before their first ever solo headline tour that begins on May 1.

The band recently toured around the UK as part of the Warped Tour, gracing venues such as Alexandra Palace with their new music but they still love to be back in the North East.

“Playing at home is always great though, you can’t beat that,” they said.

After playing at extravagant big room gigs, the quartet are pleased to be heading home to debut their album at home.

They added: “We honestly love playing live no matter what the scene. The small, sweaty gigs are awesome but we also love hearing our songs in a big room, so that is great too.”

The album will be released on CD, heavyweight vinyl and as a digital download. Their debut album has been completed since the beginning of 2015, after their latest EP Be Good. Be Gracious in 2012, the band has had a while to work on their first complete LP.

They said: “Writing and recording the album was a really enjoyable experience to be honest with you. We have always written a lot of songs around any release and picked the best ones but with this one we wrote more than ever and really hit our stride.”

The band have earned their energetic reputation after playing shows across Europe, last year they co-headlined a UK tour with Alt Rock band Only Rivals. As well as storming the UK, the band have also played around Europe. “We have been privileged to play around Europe and the UK a fair bit now but there’s no place like home,” they added.

Boy Jump Ship’s latest single Burn was released on January 29. The single was premiered by Daniel P Carter on the Radio 1 Rock Show.

Tickets for the homecoming show are available to purchase as a single ticket or part of a pre-order bundle, including a copy of the album on CD or vinyl on the band’s website.
