Pirates of the Caribbean V: Dead Men Tell No Tales – trailer review

24th October 2016 Off By Paul Farrell

The trailer begins with an unknown band of pirates ambushing a naval vessel and boarding it, quickly disposing of the crew aboard the ship when the Captain of this renegade band Salazar (played by Javier Bardem) heads down into the ship’s brig to confront Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom) not before picking up a wanted poster of Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp) with his sword, Salazar tells Turner to deliver a message to Sparrow saying death is coming for him. The trailer then cuts to a logo for the film, this time a black and gold skull and cross bones.

So far, details about the movie’s plot have been shown off, Sparrow and Turner are in search of poseidon’s trident, however, Captain Salazar and his crew of Undead Pirates are in pursuit with their aim to kill every pirate at sea. Salazar has a bit of a history with Sparrow with them being old rivals, Sparrow needs the trident in order to defeat Salazar.

Overall, the concept of a Pirate Zombie Apocalypse, that can only be prevented by the weapon of the greek god of the sea, definitely sounds like they’re raising the stakes even higher than at worlds end. While On Stranger Tides had some stakes with Blackbeard in pursuit of the fountain of youth, this time around it sounds like that Dead Men Tell No Tales will be Jack’s Ultimate Test

The film is set for a release in 2017.
