John Wick: Chapter 2 cut for UK release

John Wick: Chapter 2 cut for UK release

6th February 2017 Off By Paul Barclay

The follow-up to the Keanu Reeves shoot-em-up John Wick has had 22 seconds cut from it to achieve a 15 age rating for its UK release.

In a short statement, the BBFC stated that after Lionsgate, the distribution company, asked what would need to be cut to gain a 15 rating, they “chose to reduce bloody injury detail in a suicide scene”.

The BBFC also said that: “an uncut 18 classification was available.”

Continuing to follow super-effective hitman John Wick, Chapter 2 will see Wick travel to Rome where he will be forced to fight to the death against some of the world’s deadliest killers.

As shown in the clips released, Chapter 2 looks to continue its focus on being an OTT fun experience. The critical consensus for Part one was strong, with Rotten Tomatoes describing it in such terms as “stylish”, “thrilling” and “a satisfying return to action for Keanu Reeves”.

John Wick: Chapter 2 will be released on February 17.
