Dreamworks Captain Underpants the first epic movie – preview
13th April 2017Dreamworks is set to take to the big screen once again in this movie about the defender of truth, justice and all that is pre-shrunk and cottony.
Who remembers back in primary school reading many classic books, well one title you may have come across is Captain Underpants, and now there is a movie based on Dav Pilkey’s Dry-clean only hero, which is being made by dreamworks.
For those of you who don’t remember, Captain Underpants is a series of books centred around two prankster best friends, George Beard and Harold Hutchins who use a hypnosis ring to turn their school principal, into a superhero they created, Captain Underpants the defender of truth, justice and all that is pre-shrunk and cottony, there have been 12 total books in this sensational saga, which sees George, Harold and Captain Underpants, face off against all sorts of villains, often created by George and Harold themselves, these include evil toilets, evil lunch ladies from outer space, several super powered teachers, and the arch-nemesis of The Captain: Professor Pippy P. Poopypants (yes that is his actual last name).
Now the heroic trio are coming to the big screen for the first time, in an animated movie entitled Captain Underpants, The First Epic Movie.
The plot of the movie is taken from The First Epic Novel, Attack of the Talking Toilets and The Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants, combining the origin of the captain, the science fair pranks and the titular villain from book four,
The plot centres around George beard (voiced by Kevin Hart) and Harold Hutchins (voiced by Thomas Middleditch) two prankster best friends who also run a backyard comic book company called Tree House Comics Inc. The pair make comics and then sell them to the kids of their neighbourhood and at their school though this annoys their Principal Mr. Benjamin “Benny” Krupp (Voiced by Ed Helms) who has something of a personal vendetta against the two as they keep pranking the staff, including Krupp.
The pair then order the 3-D Hypno Ring in order to prevent Krupp from putting them in separate classes and destroying their friendship, the ring works surprisingly and the two begin to mess around with the now hypnotised Krupp, and their final trick is to turn him into Captain Underpants, though this backfires harder than a Lamborghini with a potato in the tailpipe as Krupp gains the mindset of Captain Underpants, and starts causing Anarchy around town.
Meanwhile a new teacher arrives, Professor P (voiced by Nick Kroll) who is actually the Insidious Professor Pippy P. Poopypants. who will serve as the main villain of the movie, with the turbo toilet of book 2 serving as a henchman, and possibly the talking toilets showing up somewhere.
Overall the film looks to be a great family film which drops on July 28th 2017, so be sure to check out this adventure about the defender of truth, justice and all that is pre-shrunk and cottony, a man faster than a speeding waistband, stronger than boxer shorts and able to leap tall buildings without getting a wedgie, in short go check it out once it arrives
