Episode 13 – Morning Star

Here we are, we’ve reached the end of the road and they saved the most exciting battles for last.

Betrayals are rife and battle lines are drawn as Clary, Jace, Simon, Alec, Isabelle and Magnus attempt to defeat the evil plans of Valentine once and for all. Since the pilot all the the characters have come a long way from a bunch of angst ridden warriors to heroes in their own right.

It’s a nice return of Camille, the vampire woman who set Simon on his way. Having been missing since the mid point of the series, it’s good to see her return and now that’s she’s back, the streets of New York are even more dangerous than before.

Back to the story: Clary is tasked to find a tome known as the Book of the White to help Jocelyn wake from her sleep, as it contains powerful warlock magic for Magnus to wield. Another piece of the series mythology brought to life although the Book of White isn’t supposed to come till later but as Cassandra Clare said, “the series is more a blend rather than one book per season”.

Anyway, the Shadowhunters launch an all-out assault on Valentine’s fortress but one of them must face a terrible choice to save the others and the world which will set up events for the next season as the characters continue to evolve and one of them will go down a very dark pathway.

From what we know of season 2, it’s coming in 2017 and new characters will be introduced to expand the Shadowhunter universe and all ready established characters.

A wonderful finale with a cliffhanger ending that will keep me satisfied until the second season start. I strongly recommend Shadowhunters to anyone.
