With only five months to go until tall ships from around the globe gather once again at our region’s shorelines, one Northumbrian museum is getting ready to launch a nautical array of artistry this weekend.

On Saturday February 10, Woodhorn Museum will host its first ever open art exhibition as part of its spring season. Open: Ocean is a platform for local artists to showcase their work celebrating the North East’s maritime heritage.

The seafaring spectacle is set to run for three months in the museum’s workshop galleries, ending on Monday May 7.

An annual pass for the museum — which includes parking charges and admission into the museum all year round — is available at £7 for adults and £6 for students and pensioners. A multi-buy discount is also available for adult tickets. Children under-16 are permitted free entry.

The museum is open from 10.00am until 4.00pm Wednesday to Sunday, and is closed every Monday and Tuesday.
